Sunday 17/9/11 @ ST.Bernards College - 2011 GRAND FINAL
SUPERS - Essendon
3.3 4.9 12.12
15.15 DEF DAREBIN 2.1 4.2
6.2 10.2
In the words of all the famous people around the world -
'DON'T TREAT YOUR OPPOSITION WITH DISRESPECT' Darebin came out in
the first qtr firing, 3 centre clearances resulting in a score each
time, farrugia across halfback was busy, prosser and travis were
creating headaches in the forward line, berger kicked 2 goals and
was in for a big day - Del're was running around like a 21 year
old. Barry Hall and his mates were at the ground to watch Langas
play and boy did they get into him - ha ha - Second qtr Essendon
were kicking against the breeze and kicked 1.6 to 2 goals from
Darebin - should have been game over if Essendon had kicked
straight. Mocca was giving nothing away to the darebin forwards and
bori was all over the leading goal kicker in the comp Noble.
Darebin kicked the first goal of the 3rd qtr to be within 2 points
- but a magnificent restructure by Essendon saw them kick the next
8 unanswered goals with Zamma on fire with 4 for the qtr. Brett
Sayers was in everything, Kones started to dominate the centre
square - Essendon had 6 centre clearance to nil. Cantas was getting
on top and Farrugia continued on his merry way racking up
possessions. Essendon were 7 goals up at 3qtr time and were playing
all over the confident Darebin. Last qtr was a non affair with
Essendon kicking 3.3 and Darebin kicking 3 in the last 5 min - but
the game was of over. The backline all year were sensational led by
bori, jura, pez, cats, bruzza, mocca - thommo the supers captain
for the past 4 years was out with an injury and had handed over the
captaincy to Brebs at the start of the year 2 great players and
clubman - Brebs has now taken over the mantel to lead us to more
flags hopefully !!!
